The diamond symbol of eternity
Diamond is the hardest, brightest and most expensive stones. Its name comes from a Greek word meaning “invincible.” It is the stone most often chosen for an engagement ring. There are diamonds of all colors: yellow, pink, blue, red, orange, green, black, cognac, champagne, etc … Some colors are extremely rare, such as red, green, certain intensities of blue or pink.
Assessing the quality of a diamond according to 4 criteria (The 4 C):
C as Carat: One carat equals 0.20 grams. The higher the weight, the higher the stone has value.
As C Colour: The stones are the most transparent ones with the most value. However, some colored stones such as pink, blue or red achieve higher prices than the white stone, as they are very rare.
C as Clarity (purity): Less than a stone has imperfections (“toad” in the jargon jeweler), it is more expensive.
Cut as C (size): Size is a true work of art. It gives the diamond its radiance and in fact a single object. Plus size is complicated, the more prices rise.
Sapphire: a symbol of sincerity and loyalty
The blue sapphire is the best known and most valuable. Apart from its palette of blue, it can also be pink, yellow, orange, green … which does not lack originality. The rarest have what is called an “asterism” the presence of microscopic needles of titanium allows these gems to broadcast six-pointed stars when exposed to light.
Ruby: symbol of passion and victory
Ruby is the brother of sapphire. It’s color that determines its value. The most esteemed is the pigeon blood ruby, which is to say, a red-tinged purple. A rose gold frame soften the heat of your jewels. However, a mount in white gold or platinum will enhance the contrast between hot and cold.
Emerald: symbol of hope and eternal youth
Prestige and value, the emerald can not far behind the sapphires and rubies. Unlike other stones, it has only one color, green. Its fragility makes it more difficult to cut and it is not uncommon that it has inclusions. A flawless emerald is extremely rare, so do not expect to find perfection. It will only ensure that it does not crack.
What type of ring for which type of hands?
Small hands and chubby: Avoid very thin or flat rings to emphasize the relief. Make sure that the ring is not too tight which would increase the effect of “coiled”.
Long, thin hands: a priori, you can still help you.
Long fingers and fleshy: we must avoid at all costs the rings narrow to focus on a large ring and large, with a mount most sought after.
Please note: The fingers may swell due to the heat. It is better to try the diamond rings late in the day to the jeweler to get the size that will be most comfortable.
